Hello!
I’m Sarah. I’m an essayist, writer, and mother with an interest in the intersection of art, faith, and life. I am at work on my first book, about The Rule of Benedict colliding with everyday life.
You can read “The Breaking,” my essay on art, infertility, and longing, in Image Journal; and my essay on mothers, complexity, and the art of Salvador Dalí in the North American Review. My essay “Tunnel to the Sky” was a finalist for the 2021 VanderMey Nonfiction Prize. My work has been supported by the Collegeville Institute, and I have an MFA in creative nonfiction.
I am available for freelance writing in personal essay, memoir, arts, and contemplative Christianity. I teach workshops and lead retreats for new and experienced writers in writing about art and cultural objects, nature, personal essay, memoir, and developing a practice of curiosity.
